Avast antivirus is the name of a quality product. Among the security providers, Avast is the biggest market shareholder (about 18%). Although it’s products never get down, however, we can not say anything about machines and pieces of codes. The software might be corrupt or can stop work if even a small error occurs.

In today’s guide, we shall talk about the reasons of Avast scan failed and provide its possible solutions. Let’s start it.

Why Avast Scan Failed

Being an Avast user since more than 5 years, I never faced scan failed issue but might be some new guys facing it. In that case, the experience one has to be responsible to guide them. This is exactly which I am doing by writing this article.

According to me, the reasons Avast scan failed issue are:

  • Older Version
  • Software is not Compatible with your Device
  • You might be Lost/Delete Some of its File
  • Using Cracked Software
  • Using two Security Applications

Above were the possible reasons for Avast scan and other problems of this software. Next, let’s talk about solutions one by one.

Using Older Version

Mostly, software stop working if your version is too old. Actually, your operating system keeps updating automatically and with the new changes your existing software can stop working.

In other words, there might also be a bug. The solution is only to update your antivirus software.

Follow the steps to update Avast

  1. Launch program (Avast)
  2. Go to settings
  3. Go to the Updates Section and update it.
  4. Turn on automatic updates and it will automatically update next time.

For this method, make sure you are connected with the internet. Alternatively, you can download the update package from the Avast website and run it on the system.

Software is not Compatible with your Device

This is another possibility. You may be running Avast on such a system which is not supported. For solution, go to Avast site and recheck is your system fulfill their requirements.

Lost or Delete any File

I remember one of my friends run CCleaner on its system. After that, some applications stop working.

CCleaner is used to remove junk, cache and similar files to optimize the speed of device but you have to be very careful with it. Without improper knowledge of its use, you can delete your data which cannot be restored.

If you recently used CCleaner and Avast stops working after that then you have to repair Avast.

Follow the instructions to repair Avast antivirus:

  1. Open menu of your PC
  2. Go to Control Panel
  3. Now, go to applications and find Avast
  4. Click on repair or uninstall button in front of it.
  5. A box will open. Click repair.
  6. It will take some time to complete the process.

Hopefully, it worked. If not then read the further guides.

Using Cracked Software

It is very easy to download premium cracked version from the internet but crack files are always security risks as well as danger for your device health.

Avast scan might fail if you are using crack version. I recommend to uninstall it and download a free version from Avast official site.

Using Two Security Applications

Are you using two applications at a time? It is not a good idea. Recently, I wrote a guide about people who were asking what can they use Avast and Malwarebytes at the same system? The answer was no.

Actually, every security software wants to take full control (or call it responsibility) on the device. If you install more than one then both will try to force stop each other so, keep the only better one and uninstall other.

These were some reasons for Avast scan failed or working. Hopefully, these solutions will be helpful.
